Let’s go
Our marquee ride, every Saturday our groups head out into Glen Valley and beyond. The route may change but a typical Saturday from the bridge start and back can be found below.
These weekday rides are shorter than our Saturday ride. Depending on the amount of sunshine available the route my vary but the basic route can be found in the link below.
The club is known for our well organized and fun events that we host. Our marquee ride is the Mt. Baker ride that is fully supported. Each year brings new challenges and unique rides for all skill levels.
Our race team and members enjoy racing the spring series, fondos, cyclocross, and other events through the year. Click the link below to see upcoming races across BC. Reach out for more info.
NOTE: Group expectations have changed for 2025!
No matter which group you ride in, you must be of similar experience and fitness level as all of the riders in that group. This means you are able to “pull through” in a pace line and contribute to the work of the group. If you are hanging out at the back due to fitness issues, you can become a hazard if you are at your limit trying to stay with the group. This is not safe, therefore you should recognize this and drop back to another group that is following and ride with them and within your limits. The group ride is NOT the place to try and improve your fitness. As your fitness changes over the season you may choose to move to a more appropriate group.
A+ Group: You are a very experienced group rider, preferably with racing experience. This is a very fluid ride depending on who joins on any given ride. It may be a “drop” ride, but that will be discussed before the group departs. You should be able to complete a solo ride of 40km at an average of 35km/h.
A Group: This group is for very fit and experienced group riders who like to ride fast with periods of extreme efforts. There are potentially few regrouping opportunities and if you cannot keep up you might get left behind (usually you can regroup with Group B that will be following). You should be able to complete a solo 40km ride at an average speed of 32km/h. Top Speeds on flat roads: 45-50km/h with sprints hitting 55km/h. Average Speeds on flat roads: 40km/h. If you are a strong and experienced group rider, this group could be for you.
B Group: This group is for experienced group riders. They will regroup at the top of certain hills and is essentially a no-drop ride. If you are newer to group riding and cannot hold 35-40km/h in a group or complete a solo 40km ride at an average of 28-30 km/h on your own, we recommend you start riding with Group C before trying Group B. If there are large numbers of B riders there could be 2 or more B groups based upon ability (for example B+ and B- groups may be created). Top Speeds on flat roads: 40-45 km/h. Average Speeds on flat roads: 35 km/h.
C Group: This group is for people with some experience riding, along with at least some group riding experience. If you cannot ride 30km/h in a group or a 30km solo ride averaging 26km/h average then this group may not be for you. Top Speeds on flat roads: 32 km/h. Average Speeds on flat roads: 26-30 km/h.
